Location

Hart 116

End Time

Description

In previous CARS May Celebrations, we presented data from our survey of BSU students’ attitudes towards writing, based on their perceptions of the best paper they’ve ever written. This year, we turn to the data on what faculty think makes for an effective writing process and a successful written product. We will discuss preliminary findings about areas of convergence and divergence in how students and faculty view student writing, focusing on several key themes: paper attributes, challenges, actions taken by students, and actions taken by faculty. We will also offer suggestions for applying our findings to writing pedagogy and faculty development, with a particular emphasis on linking cognitive and affective aspects of the writing process.
