Description
I will describe the challenges faced when I designed online, interactive tutorials for use in my courses. The design of the tutorials needed to be consistent with established learning principles yet also engaging enough that students are motivated to attend to, and think about, the concepts presented. My solution to this problem was to attempt to create the conditions of flow, the motivated immersion in a task described by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and to combine this with active learning.
