Description

In a Microsoft-dominated industry, sometimes it seems like the Office Suite is your only choice. In this session, we will introduce some free web-based alternatives to the traditional PowerPoint presentation. These unique tools allow you to create more dynamic presentations and better engage your students.

In order to provide a range of alternatives, we will cover two distinct classes of presentation tools: one that features options similar to PowerPoint, and one that is vastly different. The first software covered is the presentation software offered as part of the Google Docs Suite. This offers much of the same functionality you are used to from PowerPoint, in a convenient cloud-based setting. The second program, Prezi, is a presentation tool that breaks from PowerPoint’s “slide-based” approach to teaching, instead offering a wide open canvas in which to place your visual elements.
