Description

Hybrid courses are a quickly growing interest among the student and faculty population across the nation. This presentation will share the experiences of three faculty members, two of whom teach exclusively graduate level courses. All presenters have explored the process to develop and create a hybrid course for adult graduate learners. Suggestions will be discussed for transferring an existing course and/or developing a new course into a hybrid course design through the use of pedagogical tools, strategies, evaluation methods, and how this was received by the adult learners. The adult learner population contains even more variation related to experience, use, and comfort of technology within the classroom. Additional consideration, preparation, and planning along these lines are critical for the instructor to consider when developing a hybrid course. Extra early efforts made by the instructor are essential to establishing an environment in which adult graduate learners can thrive.
