The Music of the Sidis is a 2-part documentary film on one of the most intriguing groups of people living in India, a community of East African origin known as the Sidis. The Sidis came to India about eight to nine centuries ago and brought with them their rich musical tradition, keeping it alive and flourishing through the generations. They traveled across the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean from East Africa to predominantly the western states of India. To this day the Sidis still preserve much of their physical African features, their original cultural practices and music and dance forms. The film is a documentary on the music and the interrelated cultural practices of the Sidi people.
