Description
The Psychology of Academic Success, a First Year Seminar, was designed to integrate information literacy skills into regular class assignments with the intention that students will be able to apply the skills they learn to other classes, and lifelong learning. Participants will see how assignments can be tied directly to information literacy objectives in order to teach students the difference between peer-reviewed journals and popular magazines, and how to evaluate other resources. The session will begin with a brief explanation of why and how we developed the course, followed by a “mock-class” which will conclude with a class discussion. Participants will leave with insight about their own learning and achievement, how information literacy can be integrated into any course and how to get students excited about using the library.
