Project Description/Abstract
This CART award will be used to develop a research project to examine the factors associated with female recidivism. Such research will add to the current literature regarding the phenomenon of recidivism among female offenders. While there has been an accumulation of research regarding male recidivism, there is a paucity of research surrounding female recidivism. Gaining a more complete and gendered understanding of recidivism could assist state and community agencies to develop meaningful plans to reduce female recidivism, and to lessen the negative impact of recidivism, to the individual, those close to them, and to the larger community.
