Project Description/Abstract
The “Mass” is an original music composition for mixed chorus, soloists, and orchestra. The size of the composition, in duration (approximately 25-30 minutes) and in performance requirements (combined large ensembles of chorus and orchestra, and soloists), is such that the “Mass” is a major work. The musical essence of the composition is comprised of eastern, middle-eastern, and western musical traditions that serve to demonstrate a unity of various deeply held human expressions through the fusion of such traditions into a single composition. The world premiere of the work is scheduled to be performed by the BSU Choral Society under the direction of Dr. Steven Young on December 2, 2011 at Horace Mann Auditorium, Boyden Hall, Bridgewater State University.
