Project Description/Abstract
The purpose of this project is to better prepare pre-service early childhood teachers to teach the sciences in the 21st century by adding a lab component to the EA311 Science and Social Studies Inquiry for the Young Child. I will build a series of exploration kits, which go beyond the scope of the college curriculum and help early childhood pre-service students become familiar with the scientific principles that they need to teach young children science. The goal of the project is to increase pre-service teachers’ own knowledge of science as well as the skills and disposition to teach exploratory science to young children.
