Project Description/Abstract
As a ceramic artist and a tenured faculty member at Bridgewater State College it is important for me personally and professionally to continually research and expose myself to other artists and the numerous techniques involved in my field. It is equally important for me to continually produce new work, and to actively pursue locations to exhibit my work. This year I have been invited to tour and meet the ceramic artists of Echizen, Japan. I will participate in their Noborigama wood firing and participate in their annual exhibition. This traditional firing takes place in one of the oldest kilns sites in Japan, October 7-16th 2006. An international exhibit of the work will take place immediately after the firing. For this upcoming exhibit, I will endure some of the cost of traveling to and in Japan.
