Description
Two initiatives of Academic Affairs at BSU seek to address issues of faculty and librarian work-life balance. These include the Faculty Advocacy Network (FAN), which has existed for over a decade, and the Family Advocates for Faculty and Librarians (FAFL) which began this year. Both initiatives support the professional and personal development of faculty and librarians across their careers. They also affirm a holistic perspective that faculty/librarians should and do have lives and aspirations beyond their professional and campus roles. This session will share key concepts, data, resources and insights regarding family care issues from BSU and other institutions of higher education. Session participants, particularly faculty and librarians, are invited to consider their experiences related to the topic of work-life balance and family care issues across their careers. Join as we consider: how do family care issues influence and inform our scholarship, teaching and service?
