Description
The BSU College of Education and Allied Studies has spent years hosting Belizean students - many of whom are professional educators - in graduate and undergraduate programs. Graduate students earn Master of Education degrees in various disciplines, including School Counseling. Belizean students visit schools to observe and attend cultural field trips. The relationship that exists with the Belizean Ministry of Education is beneficial to the visiting educators and BSU students equally. Local teacher licensure candidates learn about instructional approaches used in Belize. Administrator candidates learn about the variety of approaches utilized in Belize to effectively manage schools that are funded by two distinct sources and serve students with special needs - including language instruction - with considerably fewer resources that are available here. BSU candidates for licensure categories also benefit from interaction with the many experienced educators who are often willing to describe situations in their homeland.
