Description

As students consider their specific major, they often remain unaware of departmental and campus wide opportunities available to them. To address this, the Psychology Department implemented a mandatory orientation course (PSYC 150) designed to educate students and facilitate advising. This course includes speakers from Career Services, Office of Undergraduate Research, and Academic Achievement. Other topics include course selection planning, optimal advising experiences, research and internship opportunities, and resume/job searching skills. Students from all majors may benefit from a similar course, speakers and topics. Research on the course suggests that students reflect favorably on it and are more knowledgeable about the major and university opportunities.
