Description

The Aloha state is a multicultural and multilingual geographical nexus with close to half a million speakers of Hawaiian Pidgen. This contact language combines indigenous Hawaiian, English, and Portuguese. In this presentation based on a CART Small Grant, I will give a brief description of Hawaiian, Hawaiian Pidgen, and how the Portuguese have contributed lexically and culturally to Hawaii in significant ways.
