Given a diverse student population and a variety of classroom cultures, difficult interactions among students and faculty may arise. Use of laptop computers and other electronic devices can present unique challenges, as can inappropriate student classroom behaviors such as texting and being inattentive or disrespectful to others. These challenges can disrupt the learning environment, but there are some effective strategies to deal with them. Participants will share approaches designed to create an environment that decreases the risk of these incidents and effective approaches for managing disruptions within the classroom. Bring your own stories and hear from those who have tackled these issues with varying degrees of success.
