Description
BSC is striving to create a climate where people of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, ages, religions, nationalities, gender identities, disability statuses, economic backgrounds, and other social identities learn from each other, and gain a better understanding and mutual respect for similarities and differences. Recently, members of the BSC community were asked to participate in a campus climate survey, and more than 30% of faculty/librarians and staff and 20% of students responded. This panel will share the results of the survey and invite audience members to discuss how the findings can be used to inform teaching, research, service, and advising. The panel will focus on survey respondents’ evaluations of whether BSC provides a welcoming environment for all, whether the curriculum and co-curriculum are culturally and socially diverse, and whether BSC delivers instruction and out-of-classroom experiences in ways that are culturally diverse.
