Description
Immigration is a complex issue in both state and national politics. It has political, institutional, and personal implications that affect the lives of students, faculty, administrators, alumni, employers, and other citizens. This program will consider and allow for discussion of immigration issues that affect our mission of teaching and scholarship at Bridgewater State College, and our service to the broader community. A brief overview will be presented on national, state, regional, and institutional demographic information related to immigration. Relevant federal and state legislation and policies will be presented. Community resources will be highlighted. Participants will then be invited to share and discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by faculty, staff, and students related to immigration. These issues may include recruitment, retention, human diversity, financial aid, internships/placements, and academic performance.
