Location
Moakley Auditorium
Start Time

End Time

Description
This panel will examine the potential disparity between ecology and equity on one side and economy on the other. Is it inevitable that the drive for profit means neglecting people and the planet? We will outline the principles of sustainable development and emphasize their focus on human rights and social justice. Each panelist will present a case study of local and/or global social movements that offer an alternative to unjust, unsustainable practices. Our goal is to underscore the importance of understanding the barriers to sustainable development in order to surmount them and argue for a more equitable distribution of resources.
