Project Description/Abstract
The project proposes to research and record selected musical works of Brockton area composer Henry M. Dunham (1953-1929). Dunham was a professor of organ at the New England Conservatory of Music in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His music has remained in some obscurity for many years and has not been recorded. The proposed project would entail detailed historical research and musical analyses of the works to be recorded, and would produce not only a recording, but also extensive accompanying program notes. Additionally, the research may be restructured into article form for submission to the Organ Historical Society, and organization dedicated to the preservation of American organ music.
