Description

Self-monitoring of food intake is one of the most effective weight management interventions. However, the typical food diaries used to self-monitor have many limitations. The purpose of our study was to determine if digital photography can increase the effectiveness of self-monitoring and result in greater weight loss than traditional food diaries. Participants in this study were BSC faculty, staff, and students who were randomized to one of two conditions: 1) weekly support/education sessions plus written food diaries; or 2) weekly support/education sessions plus photographic food diaries. In this presentation we will discuss the methods and results of this CART FLRG funded study.
