Description

This panel will provide ideas and opportunities to discuss how we might achieve greater balance and satisfaction in our work as teacher-scholars. There are many different ways to use classroom experiences to integrate and inspire scholarship. The classroom can help us to identify opportunities for scholarship that can fill gaps in our fields (and that come full circle back to the classroom). We can create assignments, or even new courses, on topics of new scholarly interest to structure and inspire our new research. We can also find ways to bring scholarly themes of interest to our classroom, even if our specific research is difficult to translate into pedagogy. Finally, we can find ways to integrate undergraduate research to complement or advance our own scholarly development. Panelists will discuss their own experiences, discuss new ideas, and remind the audience of resources available to facilitate the integration teaching and scholarship.
