Note on the Author

Dr. Joao J. Rosa is an Associate Professor of TESOL at Bridgewater State University. He is the former Executive Director and Academic Director of the Pedro Pires Institute for Cape Verdean Studies. Dr. Rosa is co-author of Capitalism’s Educational Catastrophe and the Advancing End Game Revolt (2015), and, Pedagogy in the Age of Media Control: Language Deception and Digital Democracy (2011), and Discursos Linguísticos e realidades nas salas de aulas: Vencendo a luta pelo controle (2010). Dr. Rosa has a forthcoming book (2021) entitled Youth in Dangerous Times: Surveillance from Cradle to the Grave. His research interests include sociolinguistics, language acquisition, urban education, curricular theory and cultural studies.
