Description
In this session, we will consider the use of technology in connection with using film in the classroom. The primary focus will be the idea of “flipping” the classroom by showing a film during class time, and we will consider how technology can help make this an activity which increases student engagement, involvement, and responsibility. Included will be a discussion of ways to enhance in-class film viewings and discussions with digital tools such as Twitter and online discussion boards; we will also explore the benefits and disadvantages of such methods. Since such technologies present many options and some new challenges, we will also consider issues of instructor responsibility, guidelines for student work, and assessment criteria in our discussion of the possibilities that these technologies present.
