This session will provide an overview of some of best tools and resources currently available—many of them free! In particular, I’ll talk about:
- Interactive, open-source math and statistics textbooks
- Online graphing calculators, data visualization tools, and Wolfram Alpha (a free computational knowledge engine based on Mathematica)
- Sources of interactive, web-based simulations and tutorials
- Tablet PCs and low-cost alternatives
- Video screen-capture software, including Jing (free!)
- No-cost web-conferencing platforms for working with students and holding online office hours
- Twitter and RSS feeds for keeping up-to-date on the latest technology and techniques related to teaching college-level mathematics
