Established in 1840, the Normal School at Bridgewater, Massachusetts was the third state-supported normal school in Massachusetts and the nation. These early course catalogs provide insight into the development of the professional training of teachers. The catalogs often included lists of faculty and students, course offerings, information about the school, expenses, the academic calendar, and other pertinent information.
