Description

In the wake of high profile science issues and the related debates surrounding these issues - climate, intelligent design, energy (nuclear), stem cells, cell phone radiation, fracture between sciences and liberal arts schools, alternative medicines, origin of tides and more - this panel will take on a discussion that may well be at the heart of the fuzziness that surrounds many of the issues - that is, what is science itself? We will explore how science really works, and will explore whether science works in one way or many ways, whether science is cold facts, art, or a combination of the two, and whether there is a better way to do science. Finally, we will talk about the role we as educators have in talking about and teaching science, because the way that we teach science to future generations will have an impact on all of us.
