Note on the Author
Victoria Raposo graduated in 2025 with majors in Elementary Education and Communication and Media Studies. Victoria completed her honors interdisciplinary capstone in the Fall 2024 semester with mentorship from Dr. Jessica Birthisel (Communication Studies) and Dr. Jeanne Carey Ingle (Early Childhood and Elementary Education). Victoria has always known that she wanted to make a difference and work with children, so deciding to major in Education was the right one for her. During her time at Bridgewater State University, she developed an interest in media studies and communication tactics, especially how these topics could benefit her as an aspiring elementary school teacher. Because of this, she took two topics she had grown to love learning about, social media and multilingual learners, and turned them into a research project for her honors capstone. In this honors capstone, Victoria studied teacher strategies about multilingualism on widely used social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. In a small-scale, qualitative, textual analysis, Victoria provides extensive research and examples of how teachers can use social media for ideas in helping multilingual children learn. Victoria plans to gain her master's degree in Elementary Education, as well as continue to do what she loves: work with children.
