Note on the Author
Danielle C. Johnson graduated in 2025 with Commonwealth Honors and Departmental Honors-Interdisciplinary in Elementary Education and Theater Arts. Mentored by Dr. Jacquelynne Boivin (Elementary Education) and Professor Miranda Giurleo (Theater Arts), Danielle undertook an interdisciplinary capstone project focused on researching active learning strategies and exploring ways to support elementary educators in effectively implementing these approaches. Through her fieldwork as an undergraduate student, she observed that students were not receiving active learning strategies due to common barriers. Consequently, Danielle conducted research to illustrate the academic and emotional support that active learning provides to diverse students and to explore how teachers can successfully navigate and apply these strategies in their classrooms. In the future, Danielle hopes to teach abroad in various under-resourced schools.
