Note on the Author
Lauren Zorovic graduated in 2025 as a Departmental Honors student who double-majored in Early Childhood Education and Communication Sciences and Disorders, and minored in Special Education. Mentored by Dr. Jacquelynne Boivin, (Elementary and Early Childhood Education), Lauren was awarded an Adrian Tinsley Program (ATP) research grant to conduct this social justice in education research. Lauren, who grew up in a predominantly white town, has been interested in why there have not been more racial perspectives incorporated into history lessons, especially in younger grades. Lauren believes that every child should be seen in history lessons, no matter the racial makeup of a classroom. Lauren plans to attend graduate school for early childhood education as well as be a teacher.
