The pamphlet records the memorial service held for Isabella Whitten Clarke Boyden (1825-1895) at the June 24, 1896 meeting of the Bridgewater Normal Association. A native of Maine, Isabella Whitten Clarke was a member of the 26th class to enter the Bridgewater Normal School in August 1848. After graduating she taught in Rhode Island and Massachusetts until her marriage to classmate Albert G. Boyden in 1851. Boyden, who was then teaching at his alma mater, would soon become its longest-serving principal.
Speakers at the Memorial Service included Mary H. Leonard, Ellen Fisher Adams, George H. Martin, Isabelle S. Horne, Alice Richards Allen, Martha K. Crosby, Clara B. Beatley, and Albert G. Boyden.
