Abstract

"Backspin" is an experiment in metafiction. The piece's narrative features two characters contemplating greater meaning within the story they find themselves in.

Note on the Author

Ryan is a high school writing lab instructor who is pursuing a Masters of Arts in English. His story was written in the Fall of 2024 under the guidance of Bruce Machart. He plans to include "Backspin" in his thesis work, which is a study of metafiction.
