Summary
George P. Costas enlisted in July 1952 and served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Though he entered the service with only a 9th grade education, Costas succeeded in completing both a high school and college degree during his 21 years in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves. He participated in a number of operations in the Dong Ha area of South Vietnam.
