Literature is one of the most fast-paced vehicles as it is mass produced and crosses into multiple media formats. Discussing books is a holistic activity that simultaneously engages the cognitive and emotional aspects of the brain while fostering one's own identity, values, coping skills, and alleviation of negative mental health symptoms. Attendees of this presentation will learn about an ongoing research study utilizing visual imagery through photo-elicitation to create deeper discussions and to recover meaningful data on counselor’s perceptions of suicide in literature.
