Description

An automated embedded sensor network (ESN) in the Cordillera Blanca of the Peruvian Andes has provided meteorological records as part of a multi-institutional hydrological program since 2005. This report highlights the challenges and benefits of maintaining the ESN, particularly during the summer 2014 expedition. Results from analysis of hourly weather data from the network help us better understand how climate change affects the water cycle in mountainous terrain fed by rapidly melting glaciers.
