Project Description/Abstract

Ternion is a project that integrates high quality concert dance, community access to art, and clean energy. This innovative project will offer a concert dance performance to communities who do not normally have access to dance, utilize clean energy for all lighting and sound equipment, and culminate in a documentary film exploring the relationship of dance, community and environment. I am requesting funding for the first phase of this project to create the movement language and choreographic structure necessary to work with the performers on the construction of the choreographic component of the project. Simultaneously, I will research the energy and equipment needs through consultations with specialists in the lighting and sound industry, and identify scientists interested in solving those requirements through clean energy sources. This project is unprecedented in the contemporary dance field and offers an opportunity for me to create a highly innovative format for viewing dance.
