Project Description/Abstract
I recently published a co-authored article entitled “The Human Side of Managing for Results” in a leading refereed public administration journal, and an expansion of the article has been accepted as a chapter in a book called Transforming Leadership in the 21st Century. Given that the writing of the initial published article included the repeated editing and deleting of rich case study data on public management in American cities, that the research has expanded (with the book chapter) to involve a number of innovative Canadian municipalities, and that within four months of the article’s publication there is an apparently wide audience for our original approach and ideas, I intend to expand the first two papers into a book, marketed to a university press. The CART Summer Grant will support the development of the book proposal and two example chapters.
