The paper explores methods to encourage students at the university level to use poetry as a means to express themselves and reach out to the community with particular focus on the type of issues university students face like managing time, healing from abusive relationships, and community loss. It also explores ways that outreach with the greater community, especially children and young adults, seems to strengthen university students' learning experiences and understanding of the power poetry has.
