Description

General education revision is a form of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) on a campus wide scale. The Core Curriculum Steering Committee has engaged in steering the campus in the process of general education revision for 3 years, and this work is nearing completion. By reviewing relevant literature, attending national conferences, and working with national experts, the CCSC members have learned about national trends in student demographics, general education models, and best practices in general education revision processes. By working with regional partners and collaborating with campus stakeholders, the CCSC members have learned about the aspirations, needs, and challenges of general education on our campus. In this panel presentation, members of the CCSC will present highlights of the results of various aspects of the three years of work, as well as the guiding principles for creating a proposal for a renewed Core at BSU.
