Location

Description

Current research suggests that there is a persistent achievement gap in retention and graduation rates between commuter and residential undergraduate students at colleges and universities in Massachusetts and across the nation. Disaggregated data from Bridgewater State University (BSU) shows that these gaps also exist on our campus. We will present preliminary results from a study examining commuter student experiences, strengths, challenges, perceptions, and utilization of various campus resources that impact student success at BSU based on a series of focus group interviews with a total of approximately 30 current BSU commuter students. This highly interactive workshop will then offer participants an opportunity to share their strategies for supporting the success of this important group of BSU students.
