Description

This panel discussion will explore the activities of pre-service Education students and Communication Disorders service learning students at BSU who are currently taking coursework and conducting projects at the James L. Mulcahey Elementary School in Taunton, Massachusetts. Since Spring 2015, courses and opportunities for service learning for students in Special Education and Communication Disorders have been conducted on-site at this school. The school services primarily poor and disadvantaged elementary school-age children. All students in this school receive free breakfast and over half also receive free lunch. This presentation will discuss the foundations, obstacles and ongoing results of this experiment in learning.
