In January 2015, the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) published a national survey to determine what learning outcomes are rated as most valuable in job market. The results of the survey showed that there is a gap between the skills students have and they think they have; and that the student skill sets need improvement in many important areas. How prepared are BSU students in these learning outcomes? I started my SOTL research on this topic at OTL Summer Institute and conducted the rest of the research during the semester. I determined how BSU students rank themselves compared to national student body. I also analyzed the gap between the skills BSU students have and they think they have in different learning outcomes.
