Location

Hart 116

Start Time

End Time

Description

Many faculty members are engaged in an ongoing struggle to find ways to teach more effectively and support writing in their courses. However, this quest is limited by the fact that we primarily view and understand writing assignments and products only through the eyes of the instructor. What is harder to see, and therefore to incorporate into our teaching of writing, are the specific ways in which students view and engage with writing assignments. In an attempt to meet this limitation and provide a broader view of student writing at BSU, a group of WAC members have been collecting information from students about their understandings of good writing and their own writing process. We will present preliminary data from student surveys and discuss how student understandings about writing compare to faculty expectations.
