Description

Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) can help you become more effective by focusing on assessment of your teaching practices. This session will highlight 3 examples of SoTL from a faculty learning community in different stages of development. First explore the design phase of a project and how to select assessments to measure changes in practice. Next, examine the means by which faculty can measure student achievement of learning objectives. And finally, hear about a multi-year project that used a scaffolding approach so students could gradually acquire a research design knowledge base and undergraduate research experiences. The project demonstrates how to create transformative effects on students.
