Description

Climate change is the most significant environmental issue of our time. I will present a slide show of my artworks that explores climate change in the Peruvian Andes. I seek to create a visual metaphor to express the water resource issues associated with a warming planet. I traveled with a team of climate researchers to the White Mountains of Peru where they researched the hydrology of the ecosystem. I learned how climate change is causing the glaciers to melt and why there is no longer enough snowfall to replenish them; consequently the glaciers are diminishing. Peruvians have relied on this melt water during the dry season for the needs of people and the ecosystem. I was inspired by what I learned from the climate researchers. Through my artworks I hope to call attention to climate change and its impacts.
