While there are dominant narratives about a region that define what is healthy and sustainable, there are frequently stories of individual efforts that run counter to these. My poster session will offer three stories that are different from the expected, yet stand as specific examples of successful approaches to sustainable economic, environmental, and social change. The stories tell of the A. D. Makepeace Company, the world’s largest cranberry grower; Silverbrook, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm; Sid Wainer and Sons, a purveyor of foods, a seller of produce, and an agriculturally innovative company.
