Description

The 21st Century students are those who were born to communicate with the digital language of computers, video games, and all the gadgets that the Internet offers. Early childhood brain researchers would argue that these students’ brains are wired differently; they are digital natives. Today’s adults are digital immigrants who are either trying to bridge the gap or question its existence. So why should online or not online be a question? Professors need to understand not only what they want to teach, but also who the students are. Do they learn more in a collaborative and information sharing environment? Do they learn better in a more structured environment with the instructor as an expert? These are questions that need to be addressed before deciding whether or not moving a course online is feasible.
