This session will provide an overview of some of best tools and resources currently available—many of them free! In particular, I’ll talk about:

  • Interactive, open-source math and statistics textbooks
  • Online graphing calculators, data visualization tools, and Wolfram Alpha (a free computational knowledge engine based on Mathematica)
  • Sources of interactive, web-based simulations and tutorials
  • Tablet PCs and low-cost alternatives
  • Video screen-capture software, including Jing (free!)
  • No-cost web-conferencing platforms for working with students and holding online office hours
  • Twitter and RSS feeds for keeping up-to-date on the latest technology and techniques related to teaching college-level mathematics
